영어 TRAUMA

영어 trauma는 현대 지식인 누구나 갖고 있는 ‘심리적 상처(영어울렁증)’이다. 현재 많은 대학영어(GRE, 편입영어) 준비생들은 ‘영어 trauma’, 특히 ‘Voca trauma’에 시달리고 있고, 치료가 어렵다고 느끼고 있다. 모든 치료의 가장 기본 단계는 그 원인을 찾아 내는 것이다. 영어 trauma의 원인은 무엇일까? 영어와 한국어는 ‘단어의미가 일대일 대응이 되지 않는다’는 것을 인정하지 않기 때문이다.

교착어인 우리말과 굴절어인 영어는 분명히 문장과 단어 구성 원리가 다르다. 게다가 갖고 있는 문화적 정서와 감성도 역시 다르다. 때문에 고급수준(대학수준) 영어에서는 영어와 우리말은 단어의 일대일 대응이 불가능하다. 바로 이것이 영어 trauma의 가장 중요한 원인이다. 기초수준의 영어를 배울 때에는 일대일 대응이 가능하기 때문에 반복학습으로 영어실력이 향상되는 것을 느낄 수 있다. 그러나, 높은 수준의 대학영어(GRE, 편입영어)에서는 단어의 일대일 대응은 불가능하다. 때문에, 여기에 맞는 학습법을 찾아 내야 한다. ‘통 VOCA’는 GRE, 편입영어를 준비하는 학생들에게 국내최초로 ‘영어 Trauma 치료학습법’을 제시하고 있다.
